Forgiveness

70 x 7 that is what Jesus tells us to forgive.
What is forgiveness? To me it is the act of letting go of wrongs committed against you by someone else. When someone wrongs you we are instructed to forgive those who have wronged us. In the Lords Prayer there is the line "Forgive us our sins,as we forgive those who sin against us.". When we ask God to forgive us of the wrongs we have committed against Him and His teachings, He in return asks us to forgive those who have wronged or sinned against us. I think that if we have unforgiving hearts it can lead to a life of unrest, anger and sickness. Our hearts are poisoned by the unforgiveness and I do believe that can affect our health.
Even the Mayo clinic acknowledges forgiveness as a healer (see story ttp://www.mayoclinic.com/health/forgiveness/MH00131 )

Unforgiveness can keep us from blessings that God may have for us, because our hearts and minds are so tied up with the wrongs we feel are committed against us that most often we do not see what God is trying to do in our lives. Forgiving some one who has hurt us can be extremely difficult (read Corrie Ten Booms story here http://www.crossway.org/product/663575723080 )
Corrie Ten Boom had to forgive her oppressors `When you and I are willing to see our need for God's forgiveness, He is willing and able to forgive our sins. The Bible says that "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" and that "the wages of sin is death" (Romans 3:23; 6:23). But it goes on to explain that "God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8).`` Corrie Ten Boom.

Please work to forgive those that have wronged you. It may be difficult, but with Gods help you can do it.

How long are we responsible for our children

At what point do we stop being responsible for our children. From the time they are babies in our arms until they leave the nest, parents struggle with letting go and allowing their children to grow up. I struggled a lot with this. My children are now in their 20's and I still find my self feeling I need to step in and smooth over or offer advice that is has not been asked for. This is met with "Dad I can do this with out you" or "Dad stop asking me that". Funny though they want to run their own life, but always seem to know where I am when the pocket book is low.

I am somewhat old fashioned and tend to allow my children to hurt financially. I do step in when it is for prescriptions or such, but for the most part I will let then suffer therefore hopefully teaching them to budget a bit better and make their dollar stretch a bit. It was not until my children reached 20 though that sadly I finally let go and realised that life had to sting them to make them listen. Before that I would give advice, sometimes strong advice more along the lines of "do this ore else" advice. This usually made for interesting times of conflict, children trying to reach out their wings and jump off the top branch - me trying to keep them in the nest.

When is a good time to "let go", I believe that every child is different. They mature at different rates, girls seem to be able to make important decisions at an earlier age, however I have seen many girl mess up big time during this period. Each parent needs to evaluate their children individually from the other and from themselves as far as that goes. To judge our children's ability to make decisions based from our own selves at that age is wrong. I was not old enough at 17 for certain decisions but that in no way means my children are not ready at 17. I think as parents we need to slowly start letting go with control around high school. The sad fact is that at the age of 13 the parental influence in our children is roughly 30% compared to their peers at school and by the age of 15 it is almost non existent. The mistake many parent make at 15 is "frustration" and then letting the kids go completely. No 15 year old is capable of making life altering decisions yet many parent allow their kids to do as they please. What often results from this is total rebellion. rebellion from God and from the Parents.

The good news is that God does give us guidance in this matter. Proverbs 22:6 states "train up a child in the way they should go, and when they are old they will not depart from it" this does not mean that your child will not rebel and turn away from God for a spell, it does mean that even the prodigals that are trained in Gods way will one day return to Him. It is a promise from God to parents. Parents love your children with all of your heart, teach them the ways of God, teach them to pray and depend on God. You will be surprised at how God will help you in that transition.

Canada federal election

Well Canadians are once again going to the polls. The dilema as always is who do we vote for, never an easy question to answer. Who do we believe, who do we trust. Promises are always made and seldom kept.
One mistake we can not make is to vote on emotion but rather vote on facts. It seems like all the parties involved have their own agendas in mind and not the best interests of Canadians, they seem to be more concerned with green programs that will raise our taxes or drive up the price of gas higher. The environment is important however should not be a political platform. Canadians need to survive financially and while I am concerned about the environment, the most important thing to me, can I pay my bills next month and drive my car to work. Cell phone rates are through the roof and the control Telus has is ridiculous, the CRTC needs to make adjustments and stop the gouging by these companies. Oil companies use the excuse of mother nature to raise gas prices while the actual price of oil is dropping.
We need a government that will stand up to the big business monopolies that are resident in this country and bring Canadians back to the ability to actually provide for our families and get a good nights sleep at the same time. When Canadians stop losing 40%-50% or more of their earnings (gst included in this) to taxes before it even hits the bank.....this is a party I will vote for-not for a green plan that taxes me further.
Mr. Harper and Mr. Dion PLEASE take the betterment of our great country to heart, and stop bickering like school children

My first Post

Let me introduce my self.
My name is Parry Protsch, I am currently 44 years. Actually I just turned 44 a couple of weeks ago. Man that seems old as I sit here looking at my age on the screen. I guess at the age of 20, 44 seems ancient, but at the age of 65, 44 seems very young, so it is all relevant in the end.
I own a design drafting company PLP Design, and am a partner in a "prefabricated wall component" comany, Global Building Solutions.
www.everythingprefab.com
I became a Christian at the age of 14 and as a few teenagers do I drifted away foe several years until my early 30's. It was a car accident at Golden BC that brought me back to Christ, no one was hurt seriously, My mom who had MS was treated for minor injuries. But that experience started me thinking about Christ again and soon after started attending a local church and re dedicated my life.

I have been in the building industry for over 18 years, I started and still am a design Drafstman (I hope to have my PLP Design web page up shortly) and now I build homes through Global Building Solutions and All Pro Building Systems.

I will be adding more to this blog over time.
Thankyou for checking it out.
God Bless
